Ingredients

  1. 500 gramskataifi pastry
  2. 1 1/4 cupsmelted butter (about 300 grams)
  3. 1 cupground walnuts
  4. 1/2 cupground pistachios
  5. 1/2 cupground almonds
  6. For the syrup
  7. 5 cupsbrown sugar (about 1 kilogram)
  8. 2 1/2 cupswater (600 ml)
  9. 2cinnamon sticks
  10. 4-5cloves
  11. Juice and peel from one lemon

    Spread the kataifi pastry on a tray to dry slightly. Butter the baking pan and layer half of the kataifi. Press it evenly with your hands. Add the almonds, pistachios, and walnuts, spreading them evenly.

    Add the remaining kataifi and press it lightly with your hands. Gradually pour the melted butter over it. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the butter.

    In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and lemon peel. Bring to a boil over medium heat for 10 minutes. Finally, add the lemon juice, turn off the heat, and set aside to cool. Bake the kataifi in the oven at 320°F (160°C) for about 50 minutes to 1 hour with fan. Pour the syrup over it.

    Allow the syrup to be absorbed. Cut into desired pieces.
