Bajra(pearl millet) Upma

Pearl millet is highly nutritious, gluten free and fibre rich, harvest in winter. So we consumed winter veggies as well,like carrots in winter, green peas, bell pepper are also cultivated in winter. Now -a-day we can get every kind of vegetable around the year.
I chose millet upma recipe that I learnt from my mother. I made with lots of vegetables and pao-bhaji masala. The upma recipe is extremely delicious and fulfilling too.

Arrange and assemble the ingredients. Wash and soak pearl millet overnight. Pressure cook for one whistle and cook on low heat for 10 minutes.

Heat oil. Splutter mustard and cumin seeds. Add asafoetida. Mix washed urad daal and fry till golden brown.

Then add chopped onion, curry leaves and roasted chana daal. Fry till onions are translucent.

Add the veggies mentioned above and cook till half done. Now add the masala powder mentioned above earlier and mix well with veggies.

Then add 1/4 cup of water, boiled millet, cover and cook for 3-5 minutes. The healthy and tasty millet upma recipe is ready to serve with cool buttermilk.
