Ingredients

  1. 4fish pieces 🐠
  2. 2fresh red chillies juliennes & 2 fresh green chillies juliennes (remove seeds)
  3. 5-6 tbspolive oil + 5 tbsp sunflower oil 🌻 for shallow fry the fish pieces
  4. 3potatoes cut into square pieces
  5. 2medium onions 🧅 cut into thin rings
  6. 3/4 tbsplemon rind 🍋
  7. 1 tbspfresh chopped dill🌱/ finely chopped coriander leaves 🌿
  8. 1 tbspCrushed garlic 🧄
  9. 1 tspcoriander cumin powder - optional/ 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  10. Salt to taste 🧂
  11. 11/2 tsppaprika powder 🌶️/ kashmiri chillies powder 🌶️
  12. 1/4 tspblack pepper powder
  13. 1 pinchsaffron, soaked in 11/2 tbsp warm water 💦
  14. 1 cupfresh tomato puree 🍅
  15. 1 tbspready made tomato paste
  16. 1/2 cupwater 💦 + 1/2 cup water if needed

    If desired: marinate the fish pieces with salt, 1/2 tsp paprika powder 🌶️/ kashmiri chillies powder 🌶️, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/4 tsp coriander cumin powder, 1-2 tbsp lemon juice 🍋 mix well, spread on fish pieces, keep for 30 mins, shallow fry the fish pieces 🐠 in sunflower oil 🌻 (don't over cook the fish pieces), remove them on kitchen towel.

    Wash & clean potatoes 🥔, peel and cut them into 1" square pieces, add turmeric powder, keep aside, heat olive oil, add potatoes 🥔, stir fry tossing, turning the potatoes 🥔 for 4 mins, add the onion rings 🧅 into potatoes 🥔, cook till onions 🧅 turn soft, remove out and keep aside.

    In same olive oil, add crushed garlic 🧄, saute for 1/2 min, add lemon rind, red & green chillies juliennes, soaked saffron, coriander cumin powder/ roasted cumin powder 1 tsp, paprika powder 🌶️/ kashmiri chillies powder 🌶️ cook for 2 mins.

    Add tomato puree 🍅, ready made tomato paste mix well, cook on low - medium,till oil comes out, add water 💦, salt,black pepper powder mix well, boil for 3 mins, add fried fish pieces 🐠, cook for 5 mins, then finally add fried potatoes pieces & onions rings together, cook for 4 mins check the consistency of the gravy, don't make too running gravy, make a thick gravy.

    Serve hot, garnish with freshly chopped dill 🌱/ finely chopped coriander leaves 🌿, enjoy.
