I make cranberry sauce not just for Thanksgiving. I find it as delicious as chutney.

Ingredients

  1. 12 ouncesfresh cranberries
  2. 1orange (and its zest)
  3. 3/4 cupfreshly squeezed orange juice with its pulp
  4. 1 cupsugar

Cooking Instructions

    Wash cranberries and discard any rotten ones.

    Zest the orange and set aside. Peel the orange (and seed, if necessary). Remove most of its inner membrane. Dice it.

    In a saucepan combine the orange juice, diced orange, sugar and some of its zest. Over medium heat stir until sugar is dissolved.

    Add cranberries and cook until they pop (15 minutes), stirring occasionally.

    Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
