Broken Wheat / Daliya Payasam or Kheer is a scrumptious Indian dessert.It is considered to be a healthy dessert and is a popular sweet item during any festive occasions. 1Heat ghee and fry the nuts till golden.Set aside and lightly fry the broken wheat for 1 minute.Transfer it to a pressure cooker and add 1 cup water.Pressure cook upto 4 whistles. Release steam after 5 minutes.

Boil milk in a pan.Make a thick slurry of milk powder with warm milk and add it to the boiling milk.

Now add jaggery and pinch of salt. Boil till jaggery melts stirring constantly so that milk doesn't stick underneath. Now add the boiled daliya and stir.Add chopped nuts reserving few for garnishing. Boil milk in low flame stirring frequently until the kheer thickens.Sprinkle cardamom powder and mix well.

Garnish with chopped almonds, cashewnuts,raisins and pumpkin seeds.Cool and serve chilled as an aftermeal dessert or warm for a healthy breakfast option. Daliya Payasam / Kheer tends to become thick after it is refrigerated. Adjust the consistency by adding little milk and mix well.
