Steps
- 1
First, shape the rice into a round onigiri (rice ball) that will fit in your bento box.
- 2
Wrap the onigiri with nori, leaving a little space at the bottom as shown in the photo.
- 3
When wrapping, cut slits in the nori to match the curve of the rice ball so it wraps smoothly. Then wrap the onigiri in plastic wrap and let it sit for a while to set.
- 4
Meanwhile, make the 'horns.' Fold a piece of nori in half and cut it with scissors as shown in the photo.
- 5
Place the cut nori on top of a slice of cheese and use a bamboo skewer to cut the cheese to match the nori shape.
- 6
Pack the onigiri into the bento box first, then place the 'horns' on top of the side dishes.
- 7
Next, cut the rounded end off the fish sausage and slice the rest.
- 8
Place the sliced fish sausage along the border between the nori and rice, and use a piece of pasta to attach the round piece of fish sausage as a nose.
- 9
Next, make the teeth from nori. Cut a large zigzag piece and a short straight piece from the leftover nori.
- 10
Use tweezers or similar to place the cut nori pieces onto the rice.
- 11
Finally, use a round cutter to cut out eyes from sliced cheese or kamaboko (fish cake).
- 12
Add pupils to the eyes using small pieces of nori cut with a nori punch or scissors.
- 13
All done!
