Thank you for 1,315 reviews! This is a super easy chilled pasta with a no-cook sauce. Perfect for making and eating on a hot day.

The origin of this recipe:
I adapted a vaguely remembered recipe to make it simple and delicious in my own way. I tend to forget things, so posting it here ensures I won't lose it.
This is part of my chilled pasta series. Check out my Chilled Pasta with Spicy Oil and Tuna, ID: 18303627.

Steps

  1. 1

Cut the tomatoes into bite-sized pieces (halve cherry tomatoes). Finely chop the basil and garlic. Mix with your desired amount of tuna and the ★ ingredients to make the sauce.

  2. 2

If using fresh basil, freeze it first and then crush it for quick chopping. Check out user ID: 17751886 for tips on freezing basil.

  3. 3

If you don't have fresh basil, use this alternative (reduce salt if it's already seasoned). Shiso leaves can give it a Japanese twist.

  4. 4

You can also use dried garlic slices, crushed by hand. If so, let it sit longer in step 1. Garlic paste works too.

  5. 5

Adjust the amount of tuna, garlic, and basil to your liking. The sauce is ready to eat immediately, but chilling it in the fridge helps the flavors meld.

  6. 6

Cook the pasta slightly longer than usual, then cool it in ice water and drain. Try it with ID: 18267138 for a chilled noodle experience!

  7. 7

If using cherry tomatoes and steps 2 or 3, you won't need a cutting board! Use a microwave pasta cooker to avoid using the stove. Even kids can help!
