Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  • 14 oz (400 grams)thinly sliced pork
  • 1 tablespoonsake (or dry white wine)
  • 2 teaspoonsall-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cupshot water (600 ml)
  • Plenty of your favorite vegetables
  • Dressing or ponzu sauce

Steps

    Cut your favorite vegetables into bite-sized pieces, arrange them on a plate, and chill in the refrigerator.

    Sprinkle the pork with sake and let it absorb. Then sprinkle flour evenly over the pork and let it sit for a few minutes (about as long as it takes for the water to boil).

    Once the water comes to a boil, turn off the heat. Add the pork in batches and cook gently.

    Place the cooked pork on a plate lined with paper towels to cool. Do not put the pork in cold water!

    Once the pork has cooled, place it on top of the vegetables and drizzle with your favorite dressing or ponzu sauce. Enjoy!

    On 8/2/2009, user kuroshima (ID: 848522) enjoyed this with chilled tofu and sauce. It's delicious and highly recommended!

    Make another dish with the leftover cooking liquid! Add 1 bouillon cube, leftover vegetables, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, an egg, and salt and pepper to make a soup.

    If the cooking liquid boils, skim off any foam that rises to the surface.

    For a Chinese-style soup, add soup base and a little sesame oil!
