Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 300 gramsSliced pork belly (other parts are OK too)
  2. 350 gramsPlain cooked rice
  3. 5leaves Shiso leaves
  4. 2 tbspWhite toasted sesame seeds
  5. 1 tbspSoy sauce
  6. 1 tbspMentsuyu
  7. 1 tspSugar
  8. 2 tbsp○ Sake
  9. 2 tbspMirin

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Shred the shiso leaves finely, and soak in a bowl of water.

  2. 2

Mix the tightly squeezed shredded shiso and toasted white sesame seeds into freshly cooked rice.

  3. 3

Divide the rice into 6 portions and form into balls. Huh? You see 8 in the photo? Hahahaha...

  4. 4

I used sliced pork belly today.

  5. 5

Wrap the rice ball with a piece of sliced pork lengthwise...

  6. 6

Wrap 2 pieces of pork around the rice balls horizontally. Use as many slices as you want.

  7. 7

See, I made 6 of them! Not 8!

  8. 8

Cook them in a skillet starting with the seam sides down.

  9. 9

Once it is browned, turn them over.

  10. 10

Stand them up and cook on the sides also.

  11. 11

    Once all sides are cooked...

  12. 12

Down with extra oil! Wipe off the excess oil with paper towels.

  13. 13

Add the ○ ingredients. They'll be sizzling hot! Be careful not to burn yourself!

  14. 14

    Simmer, simmer!

  15. 15

    Do not scorch them!

  16. 16

    This sauce is so tasty!

  17. 17

Sprinkled with white sesame seeds! They look delicious, don't they?
