Better than those frozen rice balls!? You'll be amazed at how easy and delicious this is! Cleanup is super easy with this magical recipe.

The story behind this recipe: I experimented with frying pan methods that used a lot of oil, trying to make something more like traditional grilled rice balls, and came up with this method.

I must say, I was really surprised!

It's much easier to clean than using a fish grill or oven.

Ingredients

Makes 5 rice balls
  1. 500 gcooked rice
  2. 3 tablespoonssoy sauce
  3. 1 tablespoonmirin
  4. 1 tablespoonwhite dashi
  5. 1 pinchsalt
  6. 1/2 teaspoonginger paste (optional, for a ginger flavor)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Mix the cooked rice with the ingredients marked with ●. It's easier to mix if the rice is slightly warm rather than cold.

  2. 2

Here's the magic for the frying pan: cooking paper! Cut it to fit the size of your frying pan.

  3. 3

Place the rice balls on the cooking paper and grill over medium heat.

  4. 4

They won't stick or burn, so they'll keep their shape and cook perfectly. Once they're grilled to your liking, they're done!

  5. 5

The savory aroma of soy sauce is irresistible! Make extra and freeze them for your own frozen rice balls.

  6. 6

The flavor is infused all the way through, so every bite is delicious! You'll find your stock disappearing quickly.
