  1. 500 gPishori rice(1 1/2 Cups)
  2. 250 gBeef
  3. 1large onion
  4. 4 clovesgarlic
  5. 1/2clove(equivalent) ginger
  6. 1 Tablespoonpilau mix
  7. 2 Tablespooncardamoms
  8. 1/2 teaspoonturmeric
  9. 3 TablespoonCooking oil
  10. 1 TablespoonTomato paste

Cooking Instructions

1 hour
  1. 1

Soak the rice in cold water for 15-25 minutes to reduce the starch and enhance its separation. Meanwhile boil the meat for 20 Minutes or until tender

  2. 2

In a heavy based pot, add the cooking oil and sweat the onions. Add the turmeric and allow the onions to brown. Once brown but not burnt, add the cardamoms and the pilau Masala mix. Reduce the heat and cook for two minutes

  3. 3

Stir in the tomato paste, for one minute then add the meat. cook for five minutes stiring throughout to avoid the spice mix from sticking and burning.

  4. 4

Strain the rice and add it in, stir vigourously until its all mixed up.

  5. 5

Add 3 Cups of hot water and cover

  6. 6

Once the water has reduced to the level of the rice, stir in with a fork, reduce the flame completely and cover with the cling film/clear foil to allow the pilau to steam. Steam for 5-7 minutes. uncover, stir in with a fork again to give it a fluffy texture and look

  7. 7

Serve with a vegetable and a source of choice.
