This Som Tum recipe doesn't use a mortar and pestle. Instead, you'll mix everything together in a bowl.

Shred or finely chop about 1 1/3 cups (200 grams) of green papaya. Adjust the amount to your preference.

Cut the tomatoes and lime into pieces. Add the tomatoes to a mixing bowl, squeeze in the lime juice, and add the squeezed lime peel for extra aroma if you like. If you prefer, you can leave out the peel.

Crush or blend the chili peppers and garlic until slightly broken up, then add to the mixing bowl. Add the seasonings and mix well.

Add the shredded papaya to the bowl and toss everything together until well combined. Serve immediately. You can sprinkle with peanuts if desired.
