Mulo Diye Mug Dal

First eash and peel the raddish, then cut them into pieces as shown in the image below.

Now take moong dal in pressure cooker, wash the dal, add sufficient water for cooking the dal. Then add turmeric powder, salt and slit green chillies. Add grated ginger too. Combine everything well. Close the lid of the cooker & pressure cook it for 4 to 5 whistles on medium flame. Now pour the dal in a vessel.

Now heat a pan, add some oil. Then add jeera, green cardamom, a bay leaf, dried red chilli. Let them splutter a while then pour the dal and raddish mixture in it. Add sugar and mix it. Check the salt consistency.

Let the dal boil in medium flame for about 5 minutes. Now switch off the flame. Your mulo doye mug dal is now ready to serve. Serve it hot with a piece of gondhoraj lebu...(typical kind of fragnant lime found in West Bengal)
