Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. - 2
Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the molasses and orange juice until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the pre-soaked mixed dried fruits and chopped nuts. - 5
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 70-80 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
If desired, brush the cooled cake with brandy or rum for added moisture and flavor.
