Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupGram Flour (Besan)
  • 1 tspTurmeric Powder
  • 2 tbspRed Chilli Powder (1 for dhokli + 1 for sabji)
  • 3 tbspOil (1 for dhokli, 1 ½ for sabji, ½ for greasing plate)
  • 1 tspMustard Seeds
  • 1 tspJeera (½ for dhokli + ½ for sabji)
  • 1 tspHing
  • 3 cupsWater (1½ for dhokli + 1½ for sabji)
  • Salt as required

Steps

  1. 1

    Start by heating 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, let them splutter, then add jeera and hing.

    Add 1½ cups water to the vaghar, bring it to a boil. Then add turmeric powder, salt, and gram flour gradually while stirring to avoid lumps.

    Pour the cooked besan onto a greased plate and spread evenly. Let it cool and then cut into square.

    Now in a pan, heat 1½ tbsp oil. Add mustard seeds, jeera, and hing. Once they splutter, add little water and then the dhokli pieces.

    Add 1½ cups water, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt.

    Add curd and give a mix. Simmer for another 5 minutes so the dhokli absorbs the favours.

    Add kasuri methi by crushing a little and mix. Serve hot with some roti or rotla and enjoy ✨
