I tried it out and decided it's a keeper.
Steps

2-beers (or 1 big as shown)
1-tbl spoon black pepper, sea salt and Montreal steak seasoning
1/2-tbl spoon garlic salt. - 2
I like to use a toothpick and pierce each brat six or seven pokes before putting it into the pot

Mix all the dry ingredients together in the beer.

Add enough water to keep the brats submerged.

Bring to a boil.

Original instructions suggested 2 cans of beer Mix all together and add water to cover the brats and bring to a slow boil. Once boiled, place on smoker, grill or whatever you are cooking them on, and brown to liking.
If you need to hold the brats, make a fresh batch of the pre-boil juice and have them sit in that.
