Ingredients

  • ✅️ NOTES
  • 1. Consume within 3 days (best)
  • 2. Best with rice, ramen, noodles, salad
  • 3. Free to add your herbs
  • 4. Honey can be substituted with sugar
  • 5. You can use light or less sodium soy sauce for lightly salty or not salty eggs
  • 6. Adjust sweetness and salt to your preference. You can do 1:1:1 ratio of water, soy sauce & honey
  • 7. Adjust the amount of chillies used to match your heat tolerance
  • ✅️ A THE SAUCE
  • 1red chili - finely chopped
  • 1green chili - finely chopped
  • 1small brown or red onion - chopped
  • 1 tbspsesame seeds (OPTIONAL)
  • 4garlic cloves - finely chopped
  • 4 tbspfinely chopped spring onions
  • 4-5 tbsphoney or as needed
  • 1/2 CDARK soy sauce
  • 1/4 Cwater
  • ✅️ B MAIN INGREDIENT
  • 5-6eggs
  • 2 tspsalt
  • 1 tbspwhite vinegar

Steps

  1. 1

    Gather all ingredients. Finely chop or mince onions, garlic and chilies.

    Place all chopped ingredients and sesame seeds (if using) in a mixing bowl. Add soy sauce and water.

    Mix in honey and stir well until everything is well mixed. Set aside.

    Fill a pot with enough water to fully cover the eggs later. Add salt and vinegar and bring to a boil. Add eggs to the pot of boiling water. Our eggs are straight from the fridge. Cover the pot and cook for 6-7 mins for a slightly soft yolk and 10 mins for hard-boiled eggs. Prepare iced cold water in a bowl.

    Next, transfer boiled eggs into iced cold water and leave to cool completely for 10 mins. Peel eggs. Put peeled eggs in a container or bottle. Pour the sauce over the eggs, making sure all are covered or completely submerged.

    Leave to marinate overnight. Serve cold over hot or warm rice. Sprinkle some sesame oil and a tsp spoon or the sauce over the egg. You can also eat it as it is.
