Millet Pongal for kids / Kodo Millet Pongal

Millet Pongal for kids / Kodo Millet Pongal
Steps
- 1
Take all the needed ingredients.
- 2
In a hot cooker dry roast moong dal for 3mts. Then wash and rinse rice and dal together.
- 3
Then add 4 times amount of water for 1 cup. Here, for 1cup rice + 1/2cup dal, I added 6 cups of water. Note: it's for kids,so I added more water and Pongal would be little bit of watery consistency. Ifnot for kids, it's enough to add 3 times amount of water for 1 cup rice.
- 4
Place the cooker with rice and dal on the stove, now itself add 1/2 tsp of cumin, pepper. It's gives nice aroma to Pongal. Add salt.
- 5
Add ghee and oil. And bring it to boil. Then cover the lid wait for 4 whistle. Open it up when pressure is released. Mix and mash it well.
- 6
In a dhadka pan, add ghee/oil add cashew, fry it and keep aside. Then add rest of the 1/4tsp cumin seeds, pepper, ginger slices and asafoetida mix well. Atlast add curry leaves. Turoff the stove and pour it to Pongal.
- 7
Thatsit. It's delicious with Chutney and Sambar. But I feed my kid without chutney as it's kind of watery consistency.
