When you're on a diet, it's important to learn how to adjust the way you cook some popular dishes so you can enjoy them with less fat and as few calories as possible.

Finely chop the onion.

Finely chop the garlic.

Sauté the onion and garlic over low heat until softened.

Meanwhile, boil the lentils in plain water with no added ingredients. Once cooked, blend them in a blender until smooth.

When the onion and garlic are ready, add the blended lentils to the pot and cook for a few more minutes.

Add the spices one at a time: first the salt, then the black pepper, then the cumin, and finally the turmeric.

Let it simmer for a bit, adding 1/2 cup of water (about 120 ml) if needed. You can also add a little cilantro if you like.
