🥔Breakfast Hash Browns 🥔

Hash browns are part of a typical American breakfast. They are made with a few simple ingredients and are beginner friendly.
Tips and Notes:
- Use waxy potatoes to create crispy and uniform hash browns— I used yellow potatoes
- Placing the potatoes in cold water for 5 minutes eliminates excess starch, preventing them from becomes gummy.
-Make sure to remove as much water as possible from potatoes to ensure crispy and golden hash browns.
- To easily flip potatoes, you can either use a wide spatula or carefully place a plate on top the pan and flipping the potatoes on it before sliding them back into the pan to cook the other side.

Assemble all ingredients.

Peel potatoes and shred them.

Place them in a bowl of cold water for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, place them on a cheesecloth or tea towel and squeeze as much water out.

Heat up an iron skillet or nonstick pan over medium heat. Add 3 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil and 1 tbsp of ghee or butter. Add potatoes and flatten them with a spatula, tucking in the edges. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook them for 5-6 minutes before flipping them around. Season other side with salt and pepper and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes Transfer to a plate and cut into 2 or 4.

Serve piping hot with ketchup.
