Steps
- 1
To make hung curd hang the yogurt in a muslin cloth for 3-4 hours
- 2
In a plate take 1/2 tsp of ginger garlic paste add some salt and red chilly powder add paneer cubes to it and mix it well so that all paneer cubes are coated well. Keep it aside for 1/2 hour
- 3
Cut bell peppers, onion, tomatoes (optional) in squares or triangles roughly of same size as paneer cubes.
- 4
In a pan heat the gram flour until it gives the sweet aroma and then add the ghee.
- 5
In another pan start heating the mustard oil.
- 6
In a bowl take the hung curd, add salt, garam masala, chilly powder, ginger garlic paste, gram flour paste from step 3.
- 7
In the mean time the oil gets heated (not too hot) add the turmeric and add it to this mixture in step 5. Please do not forget mustard oil as this gives the restaurant style paneer tikka flavor. Turmeric is added for the color. If you want add the food color and avoid turmeric.
- 8
Add paneer pieces, and all the vegetables. Keep the marinade for 10 minutes
- 9
If you have wooden skewers soak them in water and then arrange the paneer and vegetables as shown in the picture.
- 10
For grilling you have lots of options. Use tawa, griddle or oven. For oven keep them for 10 minutes in 400 F and 10 minutes on broil. Keep removing from oven in between and apply some ghee or oil. For tawa and griddle just put some oil, keep the skewer over it and let is grill from all 4 sides.
