Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1 1/2 cupgrated onion 
  • 2thick slices of stale bread or a rusk that is well soaked or breadcrumbs 
  • 1/2 kgground beef or mixed ground meat 
  • 2eggs
  • 1/4 cupoil 
  • 1 tbspvinegar 
  • 1 1/2 tbspfinely chopped parsley 
  • 1 1/2 tbspfinely chopped spearmint 
  • 1 tbsporegano 
  • salt and pepper 
  • flour for coating 
  • oil for frying

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix the onion, the ground meat, the parsley, the spearmint, the oregano and as much salt and pepper as you like. 

  2. 2

    If you use bread or rusks, squeeze them very well and add it to the mixture or just add the breadcrumbs mixing well. 

  3. 3

    Break the eggs into the mixture and add the oil and the vinegar mixing well so that everything is well distributed and the tastes combine well. 

  4. 4

    Set the mixture aside to rest for half an hour, preferably in the fridge. 

  5. 5

    Form large keftedakia (like small burgers), coat in flour and shake off the excess flour. 

  6. 6

    Heat the oil in a frying pan, add the keftedes and turn down the heat. 

  7. 7

    Fry on both sides until golden brown but don't burn them.
