Ingredients

  1. 1.1 lbsground beef or lamb (500 grams)
  2. Spices for the kofta:
  3. 1 teaspoonsalt
  4. 1 teaspoonground beef seasoning or allspice
  5. 1 pinchwhite pepper
  6. 1 pinchblack pepper
  7. 2 tablespoonstomato paste
  8. For the sauce:
  9. 1 teaspoonketchup
  10. 1 tablespoonpomegranate molasses
  11. 1large tomato, cut into medium pieces
  12. 1 pinchblack pepper
  13. 1 pinchmixed spices or allspice
  14. Salt
  15. 1large onion, finely chopped
  16. 1potato
  17. Olive oil
  18. 1 teaspoonvegetable ghee (add at the end)
  19. leavesFor garnish: parsley

Steps

  1. 1

    Season the ground meat with the listed spices. Shape into medium-sized balls. Heat oil in a pot and fry the kofta balls on both sides.

  2. 2

    Fry the chopped onion until golden, then add it to the fried kofta balls. Add the tomato paste, stir together, then add the remaining ingredients. Pour in 1 1/2 cups water (about 350 ml).

    Once it starts to boil, add the tomato pieces and potato pieces.

  4. 4

    Cover and let it simmer. Add the listed spices. When the potatoes are cooked and the sauce has thickened,

    Add 1 teaspoon vegetable ghee at the end. Serve hot with rice and vermicelli.
