Ingredients

  • 2 cupsSelf Raising flour
  • 3 tbspMargarine
  • 3 tbspSugar
  • PinchSalt
  • 2Eggs
  • 1 cupMilk
  • Grate 2-3 lemons)
  • 1 tbspCinnamon
  • 2 cupsoil for deep frying

Steps

  1. 1

    Sift Self Raising flour into a bowl

  2. 2

    Rub in the margarine into the Self Raising flour

  3. 3

    Add Sugar,Cinnamon and grated lemons

  4. 4

    Mix the milk and egg together and pour into the earlier mixture to prepare a dough.

  5. 5

    Knead patiently the dough until flexible but soft.

  6. 6

    Let dough rest for 25 min

  7. 7

    Roll the dough and cut into shapes of choice

  8. 8

    Heat the oil and deep fry the mandazi until they golden brown.

  9. 9

    Serve with tea or fresh juice.
