Cabbage with carrot and fish cake Cabbage with carrot and fish cake
This is a refined technique of Chinese "oily stir fry vegetable" which I slightly modified for modern frying pan. Why I used cabbage. It's cheap (one whole cabbage cost $2), it's resistant to overcooking (as long you keep stirring and used medium heat), it's taste sweet and delicious after properly cooked (you may not need to eat rice). Indian fish cakes Indian fish cakes
Just felt like experimenting today. I wanted fish and could taste indian flavors already. So i decided to make these. Inspired by my indian heritage i decide to put a twist on fish curry and make these cakes. They turned out quite delicious. Try this recipe, build on it, make it better. This was my first run at this one and it can be tweaked in lots of ways. But it is VERY good the way it is. Chat masala can be purchased at any indian market and some international markets. Its an all purpose indian seasoning. You can use whatever you like or have on hand....ENJOY!!!!!!! nkboxerdude -

Spring onion fish cakes Spring onion fish cakes
Fish cakes work excellent as starters! You serve it with mayonnaise, cheese or mustard sauce they go well with almost any choice of dip. While I prefer making them with King fish popularly called Surmai in India you can try making it with any boneless fish of your preference. And because the local vegetable market was brimming with the winter special spring onions I happened to finely chop them and add in the cakes. Sharing my recipe with you all. Hope you enjoy them as much as my folks did! Happy eating!!! Kamalika Basu De -
Black Hanpen Fish Cake Stew Black Hanpen Fish Cake Stew
This is my family's stew that I entered into a cooking sheet for stewed and boiled food . It is a stew I made using local Shizuoka black hanpen fishcake and vegetables!A delicious broth comes out of black hanpen fish cake and other ingredients! If you use a cooking sheet, then it will absorb the scum and excess oil, and make it difficult for the amount of broth to decrease. One sheet will do lots of work for you. I wanted to have a cake with anko (sweet bean paste) in it, so I made one using a tofu based batter. The cake looks prettier and more like a traditional Japanese sweet called "ripped dumplings" if you don't cover the walnut bean paste totally with the last addition of batter.
