The BLT has been remade many times. This is my remake: named "T.A.B.L.E" after the way I construct it, as you will see...it is just an 'aide-mémoire' to help me make it just the way I like it, every time. I hope it helps you remember it, too! ;)

Ingredients

  1. 3 slicewholemeal, sourdough or spelt bread
  2. 1hard boiled egg, peeled
  3. 1 1/2 tbspmayonnaise
  4. 3 slicefried bacon
  5. 1/2 mediumripe avocado, roughly chopped/mashed with a spoon
  6. 1/2tomato, sliced
  7. 1 smallhandful shredded lettuce of your choice, I used little gem, washed and dried

Cooking Instructions

    Mash together the egg and 1 tablespoon mayonnaise until it is your desired consistency. Season with a little white pepper, you can add salt, but I find mayo is usually salty enough.

    Toast your bread.

    Lay your first slice on a plate, then lay on the tomato slices.

  4. 4

    Follow this with the mashed avocado, then lay on your bacon slices.

  5. 5

    Spread the other half a tablespoon of mayo on the next slice of toasted bread, then place face down on top of the bacon.

  6. 6

    On top of this piece of bread lay your lettuce, then put your egg on top of that (you may not get it all on, depending on the size of your bread)

    Place the last slice if bread on top, press down then cut the sandwich in half.
