Steps
- 1
Beat the butter and powdered sugar together on low speed until combined.
- 2
Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth.
- 3
Gradually add the flour (sifted first) and baking soda, and continue beating for a while.
- 4
Add the evaporated milk and beat until just combined (do not overbeat this recipe).
- 5
Transfer the mixture to a piping bag with a star tip.
- 6
Leave some space between cookies and bake in a preheated oven at 330-340°F for 15 minutes.
- 7
Then reduce the temperature to 265°F and bake for another 18-20 minutes (this helps with crispiness).
- 8
The total baking time is about 33 minutes (depending on your oven).
- 9
The cookies are done when they easily release from the tray. Use top and bottom heat without the fan.
- 10
The thickness of the piped cookies affects their crispiness and baking time.
- 11
Let them cool and store in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
