Ingredients

  1. 1 cupshortening (Stork)
  2. 2 3/4 cupcaster sugar
  3. 3eggs
  4. 3 1/2 cupplain flour
  5. 1/2 tspbaking powder
  6. 1 tspbicarbonate of soda
  7. 3/4 cupchopped nuts
  8. 425 gramspumpkin (1 can)
  9. Spices
  10. 1 tspnutmeg
  11. 1 tspcloves
  12. 1 tspallspice
  13. 1 tspcinnamon
  14. 1 tspsalt

Steps

1 hour 30 mins
  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 170°C.

  2. 2

    Cream shortening, sugar, eggs & pumpkin. Leave to stand.

  3. 3

    Sift the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda & spices.

  4. 4

    Mix all ingredients well.

  5. 5

    Grease & flour 2 x 9" bread tins.

  6. 6

    Put mixture in bread tins & bake for 1 hour or until a skewer comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool on a wire cooling tray, then slice & serve.
