Candied Sweet Potatoes
First time making it actually, my family loved it!
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat over to 400°F, in the time before over is ready, pierce sweet potatoes with a fork. This prevents the potato from exploding.
- 2
Once oven is preheated place sweet potato into heated oven for 45 minutes. You want to potato to be firm enough to cut, in other words, not mushy.
- 3
After 45 minutes, remove sweet potato, set them to cool...so about 15 minutes.
- 4
When cool enough for you to handle, peel all sweet potatoes and cut into chunks.
- 5
Place pieces into an 8x8 sized pan. Do not place all pieces together, layer the pieces. In between the layers, sprinkler salt.
- 6
Set aside. In a sauce pan, pour water, and both sugars. Boil for about three minutes, sugar should be dissolved. Stirring occasionally
- 7
Then add all spices, followed by the butter, stir until butter melts.
- 8
Once butter melts, pour mixture over sweet potatoes and place in oven
- 9
Bake for 30 minutes, basting the potatoes every-so-often for flavor.
- 10
Enjoy (:

Candied Sweet Potatoes Candied Sweet Potatoes
This is the recipe I've been using for 15 years.Water will collect on the lid, so wipe it off when you remove it. When cooled, the surface will harden like candy. (If it is a hot day, chill in the refrigerator). If you eat the potatoes while hot, you will burn yourself, so be careful. Recipe by annkoronn cookpad.japan -

I wanted to eat something without worrying about calories. When you take the parchment paper out of the frying pan, it could light on fire, so I put it in a pot that I had nearby. If you adjust the amount of sugar and oil then you don't have to worry about the calories as much. Delicious Basic Candied Sweet Potatoes Delicious Basic Candied Sweet Potatoes
This is something that I make often at home. There is a way of making them that uses mizuame starch syrup instead, but I just made a basic sauce with ingredients that I already had in my cupboard. They taste great even without soy sauce as well.Since these potatoes have been partially cooked in the microwave beforehand they can be fried quickly and have a crispy outside with a floury inside. Please don't overcook them though or the skin may fall apart. If you prefer your candied sweet potatoes with plenty of sauce, please increase the sauce amounts by 1.5x. Non-Fried but Crispy Candied Sweet Potatoes Non-Fried but Crispy Candied Sweet Potatoes
I had these candied sweet potatoes at my friend's house. My friend passed the recipe on to me, and I created this based on that recipe. If you turn on the heat beforehand and try to lay out the sweet potatoes, the chances of burning the sweet potatoes are very high. Be sure to turn on the heat afterwards!!The amount of soy sauce depends on your taste, but I like it thick, resembling mitarashi sauce. The sweet potatoes will be crispier if you use granulated sugar instead of caster sugar.
