Ingredients

10 minutes
2 servings
  • 4fresh/leftover idlis
  • 2 Tboil
  • 6-8curry leaves
  • 1 pinchasafoetida/hing
  • 1 Tbmustard seeds
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1large green chilli chopped finely
  • 1small tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1small onion chopped finely
  • 1 Tbfreshly crushed black pepper
  • 1small capsicum chopped finely
  • 1 Tbginger garlic paste
  • 1ts turmeric powder
  • 1 Tbred chilly powder
  • 1 Tbcumin powder
  • Handfulfreshly chopped coriander leaves
  • Juice of one lemon

Steps

10 minutes
  1. 1

    Chop Idlis into cubes

  2. 2

    Heat oil in a non stick pan and add the chopped Idlis

  3. 3

    Sauté until they become crisp and slightly brown

  4. 4

    Now take the Idlis off heat and keep aside

  5. 5

    In the same pan, add mustard seeds,green chillies,asafoetida and curry leaves and let the seeds splutter

  6. 6

    Reduce heat and add onions,capsicum, tomatoes,black pepper

  7. 7

    Mix and sauté till onions are translucent and tomatoes soften

  8. 8

    Next add ginger garlic paste, turmeric, cumin and red chilli powders and combine well

  9. 9

    Cook covered on Low heat for 5-7 minutes

  10. 10

    Add fried Idlis, lemon juice,salt to taste and mix well

  11. 11

    Take off heat and add fresh coriander leaves

  12. 12

    Serve hot with a hot cup of tea/any beverage of your choice

  13. 13

    Tip:use fresh pepper powder for a great taste
