Steps
- 1
Preheat oven to 375°F.
- 2
Cut off the top 1/4 of an apple.
- 3
With a melon baller or spoon, scoop out the center/seeds but DO NOT go through the whole apple like you would with an apple corer.
- 4
With a small paring knife, make two deep circular cuts around the center circular cutout.
- 5
Flip the apple over and cut slits downward on the side of the apple. Repeat these cuts around the whole apple, making sure each slit cuts through to the center cutout.
- 6
Put the apples right-side-up in a baking-safe dish or pan. Place 2 caramels in the center cutout of each apple.
- 7
Heat butter and brown sugar in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and microwave again for 15 seconds. Remove from microwave and add flour and cinnamon.
- 8
Bake apples at 375°F for 25-30 minutes. If apples still feel hard, try baking for an additional 5-15 minutes.
- 9
Remove apples from oven and serve hot. (Optional) Top with ice cream.
