Ingredients

  1. 500 gmsRohu fish washed and sliced -
  2. 2 tbspMustard seeds -
  3. 1 tbspJeera seeds -
  4. -8-10Garlic cloves
  5. a little pinchMethi seeds -
  6. 2Sliced tomatoes -
  7. 1 tspTurmeric powder -
  8. 2 tbspRed chillie powder -
  9. to tasteSalt -
  10. 1 cupMustard oil for frying
  11. as neededChopped coriander leaves for garnishing

    Marinate the fish in turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Heat the oil in a pan and deep fry both the sides of the fish pieces until slightly brown, drain and keep aside.

  3. 3

    Grind the mustard seeds, jeera seeds and garlic cloves to make a fine paste

  4. 4

    Now once the paste is ready, add in it turmeric powder and red chilli powder.

  5. 5

    . Now heat up the remaining oil, and put the methi seeds to crackle and mix the paste in the oil and stir fry for a few minutes.

    Now heat up the remaining oil, and add the methi seeds to crackle and mix the mustard paste in the oil and stir fry for a few minutes.

  7. 7

    Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cover it and cook in a medium flame.

  8. 8

    Add the water and salt for gravy and boil it.

  9. 9

    Now add the fried fish pieces in the gravy and cook for 5 minutes.

  10. 10

    Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot fish curry with steamed rice.
