Add spices and cook for 2 hours or more. To test for doneness, blow on some beans. If the skin peels away, they are done.

Serve over cornbread with diced red onion.

For a crockpot, start with cold water and cook on low if cooking all day. For pressure cooker, cook for 25 minutes and let pressure release on its own.
