Ingredients

30 minutes
4 servings
  • 250 gramslarge green chillies (non spicy)
  • 1 cupgram flour/besan
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1/2 tspcumin seeds/jeera
  • 1/2 tspfennel seeds/saunf
  • 1/2 tspgrated ginger
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 1 tspred chilli powder
  • 1 tspcoriander powder
  • 1/4 tspheeng
  • 1 tspamchur powder
  • to tasteSalt

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    To make bharwa besan mirch, firstly wash the chillies very well and wipe with a clean cloth.

  2. 2

    Slit the chillies, remove stalk, deseed them and keep aside.

  3. 3

    For stuffing, heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add jeera, saunf and heeng. Saute for few seconds.

  4. 4

    Add grated ginger and besan. Cook it for 8-10 mins on low flame or till u get the nice aroma of roasted besan and it gets slightly brown in colour.

  5. 5

    Now add turmeric, red chilli, coriander, amchur and salt. Mix well and cook for more 2-3 mins and keep it aside.

  6. 6

    When the mixture gets cool down slightly, fill it in the chillies very tightly.

  7. 7

    Heat oil in a pan on low flame and place the stuffed chillies in it. Cover with a lid.

  8. 8

    Turn over the chillies in the intervals of 2-3 mins so that they get evenly cooked from all the sides.

  9. 9

    Add the leftover besan mixture. Cover it and cook for more 1-2 min or till the chillies get soft.

  10. 10

    Serve bharwa besan mirch as an accompaniment with any meal of roti sabji or dal rice.
