One of my favorite chili's to make, it's hearty and healthy, with lots of protein and fiber, and low fat especially if you get lean turkey. It smells absolutely amazing, and the taste matches. Easy to make spicier or less, depending on whose taste buds you're feeding.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lbGround Turkey
  2. 28 ozcrushed tomatoes
  3. 15 ozkidney beans (drained)
  4. 15 ozchili beans (undrained)
  5. 15 ozcorn (drained)
  6. 1 tbspolive oil
  7. 2 clovegarlic, minced
  8. 1onion, chopped
  9. 1green or red pepper, chopped
  10. 1jalapeño, halved
  11. 1 tbspchili powder
  12. 1/2 tbsporegano
  13. 1/2 tbspground cumin
  14. 1 tbsplemon juice
  15. 1 tspcayenne pepper
  16. 1 tspground black pepper
  17. 1/2 tspsalt

Cooking Instructions

    Mince garlic and chop onion, toss in saucepan w olive oil and sautee until translucent

  2. 2

    Add turkey and cook until browned, breaking up meat into smaller chunks with wooden spoon and stirring occasionally

  3. 3

    Drain off excess fat/liquid

  4. 4

    Add turkey mix to deep pot, throw in all canned stuff with green pepper and jalapeno.

  5. 5

    Season with lots of cumin, chili powder, oregano. You really can't use too much.

  6. 6

    Carefully add a little salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to taste, as well as the lemon juice.

    Simmer on low-med at least 30 minutes. Longer is better, but will make chili thicker.
