Ingredients

  • 1Soak. 1 large package or two small packages of dried black mushrooms until tender look for the large sized ones. Remove the stems and discard. Slice in fine strips
  • 2Saute. 1 1/2 pounds fresh pork, sliced in fine strips in 2 tablespoons oil in a frying pan
  • 3Add. 1 teaspoon salt and sliced mushrooms
  • 4Add. 1 can bamboo shoots, sliced in thin strips
  • 5Add 1 bunch of green onions cut in 2 inch pieces
  • 6Cook. For a few minutes then remove two large pot
  • 7Swirl. A portion of 2 cans chicken broth in the frying pan pour broth into pot and add enough water to measure 2 quarts
  • 8Add. 1 small ham bone (optional)
  • 9Add. 2 rounded tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 1/4 cup of broth mixture
  • 10Add. 1 teaspoon sugar, more or less to taste. 1 tablespoon shoyu. 1 teaspoon oyster sauce (optional) salt to taste Simmer 1/2 hour or longer
