Pastel - A Brazilian Dish Pastel - A Brazilian Dish
Pastel is a typical fast-food Brazilian snack which is something like an enlarged deep-fried gyoza dumpling!!! In fact, it is said that pastel originated when Japanese immigrants living in Santos adapted this dish. Any kind of filling goes well. A common pastel is filled with either cheese, ham, or ground meat, and then deep fried in vegetable oil.Hints for choosing ingredients: Use the freshest ground meat and parsley as possible. To bring out the flavor of the meat filling, be sure to season with coarsely ground black pepper! The key to making a pastel crunchy, is to flip it over a number of times while deep-frying, until it becomes evenly golden brown! I found "Easy Pasta" brand fresh pasta sheets at Costco. Brazilian Pastel Brazilian Pastel
I learned this from someone who lived in Brazil. You don't have to use just meat or just cheese. The fillings are delicious when they're mixed up, too.Be sure to close up the edges. This is especially important if you add cheese as it will easily flow out.Try to fry it as soon as you can after wrapping them up. The longer you wait, the higher the chance that they will open up again. Recipe by Orenjiiro cookpad.japan -
Pastel - A Brazilian Dish Easily Made at Home Pastel - A Brazilian Dish Easily Made at Home
A Brazilian friend on a study abroad program taught me this recipe.I modified the recipe to match my palate, and to easily make them with readily available ingredients.Enjoy the authentic Brazilian taste! You can recreate an authentic pastel by using boiled eggs and green olives stuffed with pimento (red peppers). You could substitute green olives with capers. You'll have a generous amount of filling with this recipe. So if you end up with any leftovers, it will also be delicious mixed into spaghetti sauce. Creamy Chicken Pasta Creamy Chicken Pasta
Time for a hearty dinner that the whole family will love! (Well, provided your kids like mushrooms). 🍄 🤷♀️I kept this recipe fairly simple, but it can easily be modified if you like to experiment. Want spicy? Add some crushed red pepper or cayenne pepper! Don’t like mushrooms? Leave them out! Maybe add some spinach instead. You do you!#GlobalApron Week 7 Milk#Dinner #Savory #Dairy #Cheesy Chris Gan -
