Pretty Much Perfect Boiled Eggs
Steps
- 1
Put eggs in pan and measure water by adding enough to fully cover
- 2
Remove eggs and set aside for now. Bring water in pan to rapid boil without eggs
- 3
Once boiling, add eggs into water. Let sit in high boil no more than 30 seconds before turning heat down to med low/gentle simmer.
- 4
Let eggs simmer gently for 10-15 minutes for preferred hardness.
- 5
Anytime that eggs are simmering, prepare med large bowl, fill just under 1/2 full with cold water
- 6
A few minutes before eggs are done, add about 1/2 or less of the ice to the bowl of water
- 7
Transfer eggs directly from simmering water to the ice bath. Let sit in ice bath for a minute and add more ice as needed.
- 8
Move to fridge or periodically add more ice to keep chilled. Let eggs cool completely- at the very least 15 minutes but longer is better.
- 9
I chilled for 30 minutes in ice water then moved to just a bowl in the fridge and peel as needed. As long as the eggs aren't backyard freshly laid, this method should help to keep the shell from sticking and make nice presentable eggs.
