Ladybirds Beer Baked Sweet Onions .

Steps
- 1
Preheat oven to 180°C / 360°F .
- 2
Trim the base off each onion so that they can sit flat - do not skin the onions if possible .
- 3
Using a small knife , cut a Cross into the top of each onion and then using the knife carefully open up the tops of the onions slightly .
- 4
Now insert one bay leaf into each onion opening and drizzle each onion top with 1 tablespoon of the beer and season with sea salt and cracked black pepper . Now cover the pan tightly with foil and roast for half hour .
- 5
After the half hour , drizzle remaining beer and recover tightly again and cook for another half hour or until the onions are tender .
- 6
Next remove the foil cover and roast the onions for a further 10 minutes or until the onion skins are crisp and darkened a little , then remove from heat .
- 7
Once removed from the oven , lightly season again and serve hot , makes a great accompaniment to a roast dinner . Enjoy . :-) .
