This is a Southindian snack especially from Palakkad Kerala.It's wholesome and taste divine with coconut chutney.

Soak Raw rice and uraddal for 4 hrs.Grind it along with green chillies,hing &ginger. Drain the water before grinding the batter should be of thick consistency.Ferment it for 2 hours.In a pan take 2 tsp coconut oil and do the tadka with Chanadal,mustard and kadipata.Now the vettappam batter is ready to be poured in Appam kuzhi(the traditional brass) appam maker.These days non stick kuzhi appam maker is available which requires zero oil.The authentic taste comes only in traditional appam maker.

Now heat the appam maker and add bhi little oil slowly pour the batter.when the appam gets cooked one side flip it to the other side.Serve it with thick coconut chutney.
