Ingredients

3 to 4 servings
  1. For kadi gravy
  2. 400 mlbuttermilk
  3. 3 tspbesan
  4. 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  5. 1/3 tspdhania powder
  6. 1/3 tsphaldi powder
  7. 1/2 tsp777 brand sambar powder
  8. 1/3 tspsugar
  9. salt as required
  10. For pakode
  11. 1 cupbesan
  12. 1 tbspchopped onion
  13. 1 tspgarlic and ginger paste
  14. 2hari mirch chopped
  15. 1 pinch kalonji
  16. 1 pinch zeera
  17. 1 pinchajwain
  18. 1 pinch soda
  19. to taste salt
  20. For tempering
  21. 2tspoil
  22. a pinch hing
  23. 5 curry leaves chopped
  24. 1 tsp minced garlic
  25. 1-2 sabut lal sukhi mirch cut into 2pcs
  26. 1/2 tspmustard seeds

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix all the ingredients of Kadi gravy by stirring continuously to avoid any lumps. Keep aside.

    Mix all the ingredients of Pakode with lukewarm water to make pakode for kadi. The consistency should thicker enough to make balls

  3. 3

    Heat oil in kadai. Deep fry pakode making round or flat form you like.

  4. 4

    Remove from the kadai and keep aside.

  5. 5

    Now take a deep bottomed pan, put 2 tsp oil, heat and then add hing powder and mustard seeds and lal mirch. When they splutter add chopped garlic and curry leaves. Saute in low flame for 1 min.

  6. 6

    Slower the flame, add buttermilk mixture and bring to boil stirring continuously. I let this boil for 20 mins in low flame after adding required amount of water. Then put the pakode and cook for 5 mins.

  7. 7

    Now the hot kadi is ready to serve. Garnish with chopped green coriander. Can be eaten with rice or chapatis.
