Mahamri

Mahamri is one of the sweetest and easy to cook. I like them anytime and can't miss in major holidays. Good thing I can serve with any thing I think of. One day my uncle who worked in one of the 5 star hotels at the coast introduced the lemon /orange zest in Mahamri it gave it a great taste.

Steps
- 1
Sieve the flour and add the sugar, cardamom powder and lemon zest and mix
- 2
Make a hole in the flour and heat a little oil and pour in the hole you made and cover the oil with the flour on top
- 3
Put the yeast in a cup and pour in the coconut milk if it can be warm it will raise faster. Beat the yeast in the coconut for it to dissolve (whether it dissolves or not you'll get good results)
- 4
Pouring a little mixture of the coconut milk and yeast in the flour make a dough until it's soft
- 5
Knead the dough very well for some minutes then divide the dough into small balls. Roll every ball with a rolling pin on a flat surface and cut into desired shapes.
- 6
Lay what you cut somewhere and leave it for an hour to raise nicely.
- 7
Then heat the oil in a deep frying pan and deep fry the mahamri's
- 8
You can serve with soup, coconut beans or coconut mbaazi. My children apply peanut butter and margarine and have them as a snack
