Ingredients

  • 1 cupWhole Wheat Flour
  • GramFlour 1 cup
  • 1/2 teaspoonSalt as required or
  • 3/4 cupWater to knead
  • 1.5 teaspoonCaraway Seeds
  • 3/4 teaspoonTurmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonRed Chilli Powder
  • 1 tbsp +1 tspGhee 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon
  • For filling :
  • 1 cupOnion finely chopped
  • 1.5 tablespoonsGreen Chillies finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoonRed Chilli powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/2 teaspoonDry Mango Powder
  • Other Ingredients :
  • 3 tablespoonsGhee

Steps

  1. 1

    Take 1 cup whole wheat flour in a wide bowl.
    Add 1 cup gram flour.
    Mix the flours well with fingers.
    Add salt as required.
    Add 3/4 teaspoon turmeric powder.

    Add 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder.
    Add 1.5 teaspoon caraway seeds.
    Add 1 tablespoon ghee.
    Mix all for 3 minutes.
    Add required water. Knead to a semi stiff dough.

    The dough is ready. Smear ghee. Keep it covered for 10 minutes.
    Take 1 cup finely chopped onions. Add 1.5 tablespoons finely chopped green chillies.

    Add 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder.
    Add 1/2 teaspoon dry Mango powder.
    Add salt as required.
    Mix all together and keep aside.
    Make medium sized balls ought of the dough.
    Spread a ball to medium thickness roti.

  5. 5

    Take 1 tablespoon prepared onion filling. Sprinkle on the roti.
    Now roll the roti along with the onion filling. Onions, chillies get inserted into the rotis.
    Heat a iron tawa to smoking point. Reduce flame. Place the roti on the hot tawa. Let it sit
    until upper side puffs slightly. Flip to another side. Spread a teaspoon ghee.
    Cook until golden brown spots appear. Repeat steps to cook rest of the Missi rotis.
    Punjab famous traditional Missi rotis are ready to serve.

    Serve with yogurt.
