I’ve been making hot chocolate with hazelnut milk and it is soooo good so i wanted to see how that would work in a cake. You can’t actually taste that it’s hazelnut but it’s still good 😁
As chocolate cakes go this one is pretty healthy: vegan and free from refined sugar.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cupsspelt flour
  2. 3/4 cupcacao powder
  3. 2 tspbaking powder
  4. 1 tspbicarbonate of soda
  5. 1/4 tspsalt
  6. 1 cupmaple syrup
  7. 1 1/2 cupsplant-based milk eg hazelnut
  8. 6 tbspcoconut oil, melted
  9. 2 tspvanilla extract
  10. 1 tspapple cider vinegar

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix all the dry ingredients together.

  2. 2

    Mix all the wet ingredients - then add to the dry and whisk.

  3. 3

    Pour into the cake tin. Bake for ~50 mins: until you can put a cocktail stick in the centre and it comes out clean. Leave to cool.

    I added some chocolate-raspberry frosting... but the cake’s pretty moist so doesn’t really need it.
