Wash and soak rice for half an hour. Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle, add cloves and bay leaves, add drained rice and saute for 5 minutes.

Add salt and red chilli powder. Mix well, add rice and water and cook till done. Give standing time of 15 to 20 minutes.

Serve in an earthen lot garnished with cinnamon sticks, cardamom, white pepper and fried onions.
