Steps

Measure 1 cup of water.

Measure 1 cup of all-purpose flour.

Bring the water and salt to a boil in a saucepan. Once boiling, add the flour all at once, pouring it in slowly.

Stir the mixture with a whisk until combined.

Let the dough cool slightly, then knead it with your hands dusted with a little flour.

Fill the churro maker with the dough.

Check that the dough is easy to handle and doesn't break. If it does, add a little more flour gradually, but with equal parts water and flour, it should work well. Fry the churros in plenty of hot oil.

I made these in loops and some in traditional churro shapes because I like to make different forms. I recommend keeping a lid nearby—once (just once in my life) a churro exploded on me, and I’ll never forget to use a lid again. So, just a heads up for safety!

And these are the pretty spiral ones, just like my mom taught me.

Be especially careful with the frying time—if you get distracted, they can get too dark.

Flip the churros to cook evenly.

Remove from the oil and sprinkle sugar on top! Now all you need is a little chocolate, milk, or whatever you like. Yum!!!
