Add basmati rice (be sure to wash it beforehand) and stir for a couple of minutes. Add broth, salt, and black pepper. Stir.

At this point, wait until the water is boiling. After it boils, use the lowest setting and cover the pot.

After 15 minutes, it should be ready. If not, cover and wait for a couple of minutes more.
