Ingredients

  • 1 kgplain flour
  • 2tsps baking powder
  • 500 gButter
  • pinchsalt
  • 2medium Irish potatoes diced
  • 2medium carrots diced
  • 500 gminced meat
  • 1medium onion diced
  • 2fresh pepper diced
  • 2cksp vegetable oil
  • 2Knorr cubes
  • 2 tbspplain flour
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1medium egg

Steps

  1. 1

    Place a large saucepan on medium heat; add in the minced meat and onion. cook until meat is browned Add in the salt, carrots, pepper, potatoes and knorr. Stir in a little water, cover and simmer until the potatoes is cooked through. set aside

  2. 2

    Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees, In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix thoroughly

  3. 3

    Cube the butter and add into the dry ingredients. with your hands work the ingredients until butter is well incorporated

  4. 4

    A little at a time, add in the water into the dough. Knead the dough until water is well Incorporated. Set the dough in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add some flour to a smooth surface, using a rolling pin, flatten the dough. using a circular cookie cutter or a round bowl, cut the dough into big circles

  6. 6

    Place about 1 tbsp or more of filling into center of the circle; fold dough over filling to enclose, forming a half-moon shape.

  7. 7

    Press edges together to seal, and crimp edges decoratively using the back of a fork. Transfer to a parchment or foil paper-lined baking sheet Repeat with remaining dough and filling

  8. 8

    Whisk together the eggs and brush the egg wash over the formed pies; Bake until edges are lightly golden, 20 to 25 minutes and serve
