Ingredients

  1. 15 ozcan of garbanzo beans/chickpeas
  2. 1/4-1/2 cupolive oil (may substitute part for chickpea juice)
  3. 3 tablespoonstahini paste
  4. 2 tablespoonsplain yogurt
  5. 3 tablespoonslemon juice
  6. 1 teaspooncumin
  7. 1/2 teaspoonsalt (or to taste)
  8. 1/4 teaspooncheyenne pepper
  9. 3-4 teaspoonsminced garlic (or 3-4 cloves) may add more to tast
  10. 1/4 teaspoonpaprika
  11. Top With
  12. olive oil

    In a saucepan, bring the garbanzo beans to a boil and turn off the heat.

  2. 2

    Strain the garbanzo beans.

  3. 3

    (Optional step) while in a strainer/colander, run cool water over the chickpeas. Rub them between your fingers to remove the shell. Doing this changes the texture to make the hummus a bit smoother. (I do this, and though it does take a bit more time, I prefer the texture.)

  4. 4

    Add all the ingredients to a food processor or blender. (If putting in chickpea juice, use a small amount at a 1:1 ratio with olive oil).

  5. 5

    Blend together until smooth throughout.

  6. 6

    Place in a bowl. Cover and place in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

  7. 7

    When removing it, you may drizzle on olive oil and sprinkle paprika.
