Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cupUrad dhal
  • 1 cupToor dhal
  • 1/2 cupPeppercorns
  • 1/2 cupCumin seeds
  • Garlic cloves-15
  • Cooking Oil
  • 1 cupCurry Leaves
  • 2 tbspChilly Powder
  • 2 tbspCoriander Powder
  • 1 tspHing

Steps

  1. 1

    Roast the ingredients(except powders & Curry leaves) in a pan one by one without oil.

  2. 2

    Once all the above are roasted separately, keep them aside and let them cool for a couple of minutes.

  3. 3

    Roast Curry leaves and powders with little oil. dont roast more than 2 minutes.

  4. 4

    In a mixer grinder, put all the roasted ingredients and add about a teaspoon of Hing and salt to taste and grind it all together.

  5. 5

    Don't grind it too powdery, let the texture of the mixture be a little coarse.

  6. 6

    Enjoy steamed idli with Gun powder mixed with Coconut oil or Ghee or Gingelly oil.

  7. 7

    My Tip:

    I mostly prefer Gingelly oil. Its more healthy and enhance taste.l
